BASICS fitness was founded in 2008 by Craig and Sarah Douthwaite.

I had been talking about running an outdoor boot camp in Red Deer for two years prior to founding BASICS fitness. I had the idea and Sarah had the vision to make it happen.

In the spring of 2008 Sarah and I set out to design a "military style" boot camp anyone could attend. We also wanted to inspire and teach people you don't need all the equipment you find at the gym to be successful in reaching your fitness goals. The fusion of these two ideas was unique from any other boot camp around and BASICS fitness was born.

My passion for fitness and experience as an instructor coupled with Sarah's vision for a boot camp that provided participants with more than just another workout became the foundation of all the BASICS fitness programs.

Our philosophy for a safe, fun and challenging workout designed to push you both physically and mentally became an instant hit. Participants work together with a trainer and their boot camp peers to push themselves to high levels of personal growth.
